Commissions
I specialize in painting warbands, characters, special units, and centerpiece models that can bring a whole army with them to the next level.
Visit the galleries to see the level of quality you can expect; nearly every piece there is a commission. Some painting services offer several tiers or levels of quality, but I'm only offering one.
Below is a table of average price guidelines for figures. I used to give 'starting price' but I feel average price will give you a better idea of what to expect. The actual price is determined by how much detail and complexity the figure has, and could be less or more. For instance, Rackham figures carry a "detail premium" with them. A smallish figure and/or a less detailed figure could be significantly less than these average prices. Plastic figures are generally less as well.
Each project is handled individually with a personalized quote for the actual figures. That way you're never paying for something that isn't applicable to the particular project.

Additional Factors
I can work using metallic paint or in the NMM (non-metallic metals) style. Metallics are generally a little less than NMM, but not always. I don't put a blanket premium on NMM for a figure wearing a medallion with little other metal showing, for instance.
Freehand design work such as tattoos or patterned clothing also gets factored in. Please discuss with me any freehand you'd like. If I see a figure calling for freehand, I'll suggest it.
A third factor is assembly. Mold line removal is included free of charge. As for assembly, if it's a simple matter or attaching a sword arm and cape, that won't affect the price. Complex, difficult assemblies requiring pins and sculpting gaps (e.g. Hordes) will get factored in, as will assembling plastic figures with multiple pose options, and any vehicle.
Bases
All figures are based in the traditional style free of charge: terrained with sand and ballast, then flocked with patches of static grass. However, I can do anything with the base that you desire. I can try to imitate an effect from a picture or work something up from a verbal description.
I can make scenic wooden bases in which the figures are countersunk. Your options are either a 4" round base with a 3" surface area (suitable for one to three figures) or a custom made-to-order rectangular base These are made of high quality wood such as cherry, and sides can be stained or painted as desired. In either case, rare earth magnets can be fixed to each figure if desired.

Conversions
I'm excited about conversions! More of my conversion work will be shown in the galleries in the near future. Sketch out your ideas to me and I'll let you know what I think along with a breakdown of the project.
I can paint miniatures that you or someone else have converted. In this case please send snapshots of the converted figure(s) along with your proposal so that I can provide an accurate quote. However, it shouldn't be any more than the standard fig unless there's a lot of new detail, or a lot of added mass.
Sealing
Miniatures are sealed with multiple coats of matte varnish. If requested, figures can be varnished with a gloss coat first for added protection, then sprayed with matte varnish to give a matte finish. There's no extra cost for this.
Getting the Figs to Me
I can purchase most miniatures for commissions at retail cost. There is no cost for shipping. If you order the miniatures through me, please note that they can take up to a week to arrive.
A second option is that the buyer can supply the miniatures, either sending them personally or ordering them online and having them sent to me. In these cases, the buyer is to pay all shipping costs. If you are sending the figures, insure them if you wish to do so. Null Horizon can not be held responsible in the unlikely event of lost mail.

Payment
My preferred method of payment is by money order or cashiers check. I accept personal checks, with a 10 day hold period while the check clears. I also accept credit cards via Paypal. Paypal is the only option for overseas bidders.
For new customers, I require a 25% downpayment in order to begin a project. For returning customers, this is not necessary. In either case, if you are buying the figures through us I require the full cost of the miniatures in advance as well.
Shipping
Within the US, by default, items are shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Alternate shipping methods can be discussed. Shipping is a flat $6.00 and includes delivery confirmation. For customers abroad, the preferred method is Airmail Letter Post. For overseas shipping, the cost actual shipping + materials (cost of box). All figures are extensively padded and shipped in a sturdy box.
Images
With all commission work I reserve the right to copyright images of it and post those images on the web.
The Commission Process
If you're interested in commission work, drop me a line and tell me your ideas. I'll send you a quote, and we can from there. You can be as 'hands on' with the projects as you like, giving me either a fully fleshed out concept or a roughly sketched description. I'll take the lead with any space you give me and you won't be disappointed!
Send inquiries to studio@nullhorizon.com. Be sure to include "commission" in the email title.
